Speed trap yg dipakai oleh polis yg menyorok kemungkinan besar adalah jenis laser ataupun Lidar. Laser dan lidar memang tidak dapat dikesan oleh radar detector. Cuma kalau bernasib baik sewaktu polis menggunakan wireless unit macam walkie talkie dapat detect ngan radar detector. Jadi kalau setakat ada radar detector ni mmg belum cukup lagi utk menjadi kebal dari speedtrap. Jadi kalau nak selamat kena beli laser detector ataupun laser jammer mcm org singapore dok pakai. Speed penalties

Speeding over the enforced speed limits can be fined up to RM300 and offenders may also receive demerit points as subject to KEJARA System by Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ).

The speed penalties are given according to the difference of the driven speed and the enforced speed limit as follows:-

  1. 1 ~ 25 km/h: RM80 (6 demerit points)
  2. 26 ~ 40 km/h: RM150 (8 demerit points)
  3. Over 40 km/h: RM300 (10 demerit points)

Speed limit issues

Higher speed limit on interstate expressways (120 km/h)

Several years ago, a proposal to increase the speed limit on Malaysian expressways to 120 km/h was made but was finally rejected in 2005 by Minister of Works, Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu, stating that most drivers often drive 10 to 30 km/h faster than the stated speed limit on the expressways.

Lower speed limit during festive seasons (80 km/h)

Starting from the 2006 Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive season, the Malaysian police enforced lower speed limits on federal and state roads during festive seasons, from the default 90 km/h (55 mph) to 80 km/h (50 mph) as a preventive measures to reduce accidents during festive seasons. However, many road users complain about the viability of the lower speed limit because the accident rate during festive seasons continue to rise even with lower speed limits, as the lower speed limit doesn't seem to bring any significant effects of reducing the accident rate; therefore, lower speed limit alone is not the effective deterrent of fatal accidents during festive seasons.

Bagaimana Speed Trap Detector Berfungsi (Radar Type)

Speed trap detector terbahagi kepada dua iaitu radar detector dan laser detector.

Aku akan cerita pasal radar detector dulu kat sini.
Kenapa anda perlukan radar detector? Sebabnya anda tak tahu kat mana ada speed trap camera. Kalau speed trap camera yg jenis besar tu mmg nampak. Tapi hati-hati sekarang ni dah ada speedtrap camera yg jenis kecik. Kadang-kadang perasan kalau bawak laju mmg tak perasan tau-tau dapat surat saman. Jadi untuk mengelakkan diri anda dari membayar saman seumur hidup elok beli satu. Kita memang takder niat nak bawak laju pun tau-tau tgh syok bawak kereta sekali datang lagi amuk ker metallica naik hantu tertekan minyak lebih sikit sekali pulak ada speed trap camera kat situ. Dah dapat surat saman baru ler menyesal tak beli radar detector haha. Sebab tu org tua kata sediakan payung sebelum hujan. Kita tak tahu masa bila kita nak bawak kereta laju ke tidak. Tapi kalau kita ni mmg jenis cool dan mmg tak pernah bawak laju tu kira hebat ler. Sekali bini nak beranak nak hantar hospital takkan nak bawak rilek2 cool jer kan...kan. Sebab polis tak peduli alasan apalah korang bagi sekalipun bawak lebih dari had laju saman. Tak nak bayar saman naik court. Macam aku citer sebelum ni bukannya best naik court nih. Bayar saman lagi ler tak best. Tak bayar saman karang kena masuk lokap. Mana mau? Tepuk dada tanya diri sendiri. Aku sendiri pun tak suka bawak kereta laju-laju nanti tak pasal-pasal menjanda bini aku yg cun lagi solehah tu.

Biasa ler aku suka merepek dulu baru bagi maklumat yg berguna kepada masyarakat dan tanahair malaysia yg tercinta.

Adakah radar detector ni salah di sisi undang-undang?
Secara ikhlas dan jujur serta tawadduk aku bagitau aku tak confirm benda nih. Ada yg kata salah ada yg kata tak tau. Jadi aku ambik yg tak tahu jer ler pasal tak jumpa lak undang2 malaysia kat internet nih pasal radar detector. Kalau siapa-siapa yg tahu bagitau aku yer. Kalau betul salah di sisi undang-undang pandai-pandai la anda fikir sendiri.

Kebanyakannya boleh cucuk kat tempat api cucuh rokok. Bukan tempat ashtray tu cik akak, tempat yg ada lambang rokok dan macam gulung2 pastu macam ada batang mancis kat tengah tu. Ada jugak yg boleh pakai solar bateri jer. Macam yg aku sendiri pakai kat jepun ni pakai solar jer. Jadi aku tak pernah cucuk kat tempat
rokok tuh. Pesanan penaja: Merokok membahayakan kesihatan anda dan orang yg anda sayangi.

Kat mana nak letak radar detector ni yer? Letak atas dashboard yg tiada apa-apa dapat menghalang RD(radar detector) ni dari menerima gelombang. Kalau boleh jangan guna stand pakai jer doubletape senang nak cabut dari dashboard mana tau kot2 emergency ker nak kena cabut RD nih. Takpun korang tau sendiri ler mat cilok mat rempit mat pit segala jenis mat2 yg takleh tgk org senang nih curi barang kereta korang baik korang cabut RD ni bila parking kat tempat-tempat yg suspicious.

Adakah Radar Detector ni boleh dikesan?
Masa mula-mula RD ni mula dikeluarkan didapati penggunaan RD ni memberi gangguan pada SKY TV. Kat malaysia astro la kot. Kalau nak check RD yg korang ada tu memberi gangguan pada astro ker tak pasang radar detector tu kat antena astro pastu tgk ada bagi gangguan ker tak kat siaran astro tu. Aku tak pernah cuba lagi benda ni kalau ada yg dah cuba bagitau aku. Jadi aku tak tahu model sekarang ni camner. Jadi disebabkan RD ni boleh bagi gangguan kat sistem lain terhasillah VG
-2 unit. VG-2 ni memang boleh mengesan radar detector atau pun Jenis lain cam Spectra RDD (radar detector detector). Tapi alat ni tak begitu meluas penggunaannya sebab mahal dan semata-mata nak tangkap org yg pakai radar detector yg beberapa kerat jer kat Malaysia ni. Lagipun ada RD yg ada anti-VG-2. Cam kat UK speedtrap detectors jenis Bel-tronics mmg ada anti-VG-2 nih nama dier Shadow Technology. Jadi kalau nak cari yg jenis ada anti-VG-2 ni kena tgk brand la jugak. Mungkin ada polis2 di Malaysia yg pakai VG-2 nih tapi tak meluas. Jadi kena hati-hati gak ler.

Perkara-perkara yg wajib diingati bila anda nak naik court sebab kena saman

Kalau anda benar-benar nak bawak kes saman anda ke mahkamah pastikan anda tulis perkara-perkara dibawah ni dan masa kena saman tulis dalam nota anda jangan ingat-ingat lupa.

1. Pertanyaan dan jawapan ketika polis yg menahan anda membuat siasatan. Tulis semua secara details. Ini untuk mengelakkan anda menipu atau anda boleh tahu kalau polis tu membuat tuduhan palsu dsbgnya.

2. Kedudukan kereta berhampiran semasa anda memandu yg dikatakan melebih had laju. Kalau boleh ingat ngan nombor plate sekali. Sebab kalau polis tu pakai radar gun mmg boleh diragui. Radar gun lebih cenderung menangkap objek yg lebih besar. Anda boleh kata itu kelajuan lori berhampiran. Berbeza ngan laser gun sebab laser gun ada crosshair dia target kereta yg dia nak pastu dia lock on target dan keluar lah kelajuan kereta yg ditarget. Kalau pakai radar detector mmg tak leh nak detect. Lain ler kalau pakai laser detector tu pun kena tgk brand gak kena brand yg jenis cap ayam takleh detect takpun dah kena target baru nak sound alarm. Nanti aku cerita kat posting lain pasal laser gun ngan radar gun beserta detector jenis mana yg aku recommendkan.

3. Keadaan cuaca cerah ker hujan ker mendung ker. Malam ker siang.

4. Waktu dan tarikh kena tahan.

5. Hala tuju dari mana nak ke mana cthnyer dari kota bharu nak gi KL. Ada urusan business di KL contohnya.

6. Lane. Samada anda memandu di lane kanan atau kiri. Kalau boleh tahu nama jalan sekali.

7. Destinasi polis yg menahan anda kalau polis yg tgh patrolling tahan. Kalau polis yg menahan anda sedang parking kat dalam semak ker bawah signboard ker.

8. Latar belakang polis bentuk tubuh muka camner nama polis dan bertugas di balai mana. Kalau boleh dapatkan gambar polis yg menahan anda.

9. Dapatkan nama polis dan no plate kereta peronda.

Itu saja kalau ada tertinggal sila bagi komen.

Apa nak buat kalau polis trafik tahan anda?

Ramai pencinta undang2 yg baca blog aku ni tak puas hati. Ada yg marah pasal macam aku ni galakkan org bawak kereta laju-laju dengan adanya speed trap detector nih. Apsal tak marah pembuat kereta tu terus? dah tahu had laju dalam 90km/j jer buat ler kereta tu takleh speed lebih dari 90km/j habis citer. Tak gitu? Nih kerajaan yg sama buat undang2 dan kerajaan yg sama luluskan kereta yg boleh lari lebih dari had laju. (ni bukan nak marah kerajaan ni cuma merenung sejenak jer). Adakah dikatakan memandu dgn berhati2 bila bawak kereta sambil tgk speedometer pastu nak ushar signboard tgk had laju kaw tu berapa. Kadang2 kena ushar kot2 polis dok menyorok ker aper ker. Nak tengok jalan lagi tu pasal dok pening camtu last2 accident.

Tuh muqaddimah jer. Baru nak start nih. Ok, banyak sebenarnya tips2 yg korang boleh pakai bila korang kena saman bab rasuah tu aku mmg tak nak ajar pasal aku tak nak tanggung dosa sekali ngan korang. Selain dari rasuah yg ber'dosa' tu korang nak jawab ngan tuhan kat padang mahsyar nanti korang pikir ler baik. Tak kira ler rasuah duit ker rokok sekotak ker. Rasuah tetap rasuah huuuh benci betul ngan rasuah nih. Ok tak nak merepek panjang lagi lets get it started it.

1. Buat muka kesian kalau boleh menangis terisak-isak walaupun korang rasa takder mood nak nangis. Ataupun korang rasa cam nak marah giler kat polis yg tahan korang tu sabar jer teruskan lakonan menangis anda. Sebab polis ni kebanyakannya manusia teruk camner sekalipun ada hati perut. Kalau lakonan menangis anda berjaya anda akan diberi amaran. " jangan buat lagi yer dik" pastu kalau nasib baik dapat anugerah bintang terbaik drama swasta hehe. Nak senang sediakan bawang bawah seat takpun ambik minyak cap kapak tuang dalam mata huhh mmg keluar air mata confirm dapat menang oscar award lah.

2. Jangan sekali-sekali mengaku bahawa anda terpaksa bawak laju ni pasal bini nak beranak ker rumah terbakar ker, nak kena kejar tok kadi nak akad nikah ker, sakit perut nak berak ker semua alasan-alasan tu satu sen pun takleh pakai. Ni ramai org buat silap kot2 polis tu faham ler korang ni kononnya bukannyer nak bawak laju sangat tapi terpaksa sebab begitu begini. Tapi memang otak org yg dah gelabah camtu keluar output macam2 sakit gigi ler sakit perut ler. Ingat polis yg tahan tu baru beranak semalam ker? Polis ni bukannya bodoh nak terima alasan-alasan yg tak munasabah dan rekaan semata-mata camtu.

3. Jangan cepat-cepat bagi lesen memandu. Haaa ni korang jarang-jarang dengar. Ini kerana bila korang dah bagi lesen memandu korang kira dah mengaku bersalah. Lagipun kita ada hak tak nak bagi lesen kereta ataupun IC kita kat polis. Maksud aku jangan bagi lesen masa kat tempat kena tahan di tepi jalan sebab itu bermakna anda mengaku bersalah kalau ikut undang-undang sebenarnya pegawai polis cuma boleh tengok jer lesen tak boleh ambik lesen pemandu sembarangan. Tapi bila tiba di balai anda boleh serahkan lesen anda sebab tu balai polis dan tindakan korang bersesuaian dengan kehendak undang-undang negara. Bab ni korang kena hati-hati sikit jgn sampai polis tu naik angin. Jangan mudah menyerah dan jgn sampai polis tu marah korang. Be Profesional. Kalau naik court korang bagitau bahawasanya korang curiga dengan polis sekarang yg suka mengambil kesempatan nak duit rasuah dan macam2. Tapi kalau polis tu ada rekod kelajuan kereta korang korang boleh kata laser gun ker radar gun tu boleh dicalibrate. Pakai Tuning Fork untuk calibrate. Hanya dengan external test jer radar gun tu boleh di'calibrate' dengan tepat. Bermakna kalau ada pegawai polis cuba2 nak calibrate sendiri utk dapat 'duit kopi' mmg tak jadinyer. Tu boleh mengukuhkan kenyataan kita kat court. Tapi kalau dia pakai LIDAR GUN takleh calibrate ngan Tuning Fork tu aku tak tau lak diorang calibrate ngan aper nanti aku siasat lagi camner diorang calibrate LIDAR GUN. Sebab tu masa polis kata "encik telah membawa kereta melebihi had laju". Mintak bukti kalau boleh suruh polis tu tunjukkan laser gun@radar gun@lidar gun yg digunakan. Masa tu korang tgk ler brand apa yg dipakai ngan no siri sekali pastu bagitau aku hehe. Tu kalau polis kasik ler selalunya jarang kasik. Kalau polis kasik korang dah boleh bantu aku dan team aku siasat camner nak counter balik speedtrap yg polis pakai tu. Polis ni kalau kita gempak nampak macam lawyer sikit takut gak dia. Polis ni bukannya suka naik court nih nak-nak yg jenis banyak makan rasuah. Cuma mula-mula jer dia buat keras kepala.

4.Sebab apa polis biasa (bukan polis trafik) malas naik court
-memerlukan wang yg sangat banyak utk prosedur naik court yg perlu disediakan oleh pihak polis sendiri. (duit polis ni bukan banyak kadang2 tak cukup utk maintain patrol car, sebab tu polis tak banyak meronda pasal kena pakai duit utk isi minyak dalam patrol car) kalau tak baik gi meronda sambil-sambil makan angin gitu.
-Faktor masa. Banyak masa yg perlu dibazirkan utk proses naik court ni. Setiap pegawai ada duty katakan pegawai A yg mendakwa anda bukan sahaja pegawai A yg terlibat banyak lagi pegawai lain kena beri kerjasama semata-mata utk saman RM300. Kemudian masa mahkamah lagi. Pasal mahkamah ni bukan cam hotel boleh check-in check out camtu jer. Mahkamah ada banyak lagi kes-kes besar jadi pihak mahkamah akan utamakan kes2 besar dulu kes2 kecik ni mmg kena tunggu lambat sikit. Akhir sekali kena dapatkan pihak pendakwaraya. Yang ni aku tak pasti samada polis sendiri jadi pendakwa ataupun dia kena upah peguam lain untuk jadi pendakwa. Pasal silap aribulan kalau polis kalah kes KITA yg kena saman nih boleh saman malu berjuta RM. Tu pun kalau kita dapatkan khidmat peguam yg mmg canggih ataupun korang boleh kemukan bukti-bukti yg mmg kukuh. Mahkamah ni bergantung pada peguam dan hakim totally, kalau kita bijak dan dapat peguam yg lagi bijak boleh menang kes. Makin ramai polis kalah kes makin tak berani ler polis naik court.
-Polis trafik berbeza pasal mmg diorang ada peruntukan dan prosedur khas untuk perkara2 camni. Cuma bezanya dgn polis biasa mmg polis caw.trafik ni tu mmg kerja dia polis biasa banyak lagi kerja lain nak kena selesai. Polis trafik pun takut gak naik court sebenarnya walaupun dia polis. Jadi masukkan dalam kepala korang betul-betul benda yg aku tulis ni sebelum membuat apa-apa tindakan.

Apapun tak semua polis ni tak betul. Ramai yg jujur dan sekadar mencari rezeki yg halal malah menjaga keselamatan kita dan keluarga kita. Yang ni patut kena respect. Tapi berapa kerat jer ler yg macamni. Ramai yg suka lagak samseng pastu nak duit kopi. Yer ler saper tak nak duit kan aku pun nak hehe.

Benda yang aku tulis ni bukannya menghasut tapi ini kaedah membela hak individu. Negara Malaysia kan demokrasi gitu. Rakyat kita banyak kurang maklumat jadi nih aku nak kongsi maklumat yg sekadar aku tahu jer. Kalau jumpa peguam yg pakar bab nih lagi ler macam-macam dia suruh. Nasib baik aku tak jadi peguam hehe jadi engineer pun jadik ler cukup-cukup makan.

Nih tips2 yg aku bagi kat korang supaya korang fikir la abis-abis sebelum bawak kereta laju-laju betapa menyusahkan utk lepas diri dari cengkaman polis ni bila korang dah kena tahan. Lain ler kalau korang mmg tak kisah nak bayar saman atau nak dapat dosa free sebab bagi rasuah kat polis. Setiap kali korang bagi rasuah kat polis makin berleluasa dan menjadi tradisi polis menerima rasuah. Ataupun mmg dah jadi tradisi polis menerima rasuah dan tak dapat dibendung lagi?? Kalau betul korang nak lawan, lawan betul2. Kalau tak sayang duit bayar jer saman. Kena saman bayar lagi dan bayar dan teruskan membayar saman.

Police Speed Trap Radar/Laser

(1) acronym for RAdio Detection And Ranging. (2) a remote sensor that emits electromagnetic waves (radio, microwave, or light) in order to measure reflections for detection purposes (presence, location, motion, etc.). (3) radiolocation. (4) field disturbance sensor.

All stationary microwave traffic radars measure on-coming traffic; some models also (and/or) measure going (receding) traffic. Virtually all moving mode radars can operate from a stationary position or a moving patrol car. Moving mode radars usually require a minimum patrol car speed for moving mode operation. All moving mode radars (in moving mode) measure on-coming (opposite lane) traffic; some can also (and/or) measure receding (opposite lane) traffic (requires aft antenna). Some moving mode radars can measure targets traveling in the same-lane (direction) as the patrol car (front and/or rear antenna). Same-lane radars require a minimum speed difference (2 mph or MORE) between the target and patrol car. Moving radars also measure patrol car speed (ground speed), most also display patrol measured speed. Many radars track only one target at a time; some models have the option to track and display two targets -- the strongest (may be closest or largest) target (echo) and the fastest (or a faster) target in the beam.

Most microwave traffic radars have a relatively wide beam (9 to 25 degrees) that easily covers several lanes of traffic at a relatively short range Detection range (in the beam) varies with radar and target reflectivity and may be as low as 100 feet (30 meters) or less to 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) or more. A radar may track a distant large target instead of a closer small target without any indication to the operator which target the radar is tracking

The angle between the (microwave or laser) radar and target (alpha in the figure below) must be small for the radar to accurately measure speed. The angle is referred to as the Cosine Effect angle because measured speed is directly proportional to the cosine of this angle; the larger the angle the lower the measured speed . The radar should be located as close to the road (really projected target path) as practical to minimize Cosine Effect errors . The Cosine Effect on moving mode radar is slightly more complicated and may measure target speed high under certain conditions .

Some microwave radars constantly transmit. Some microwave and all laser traffic radars only transmit on operator command (instant-on); some microwave radars (pulsed) only transmit periodically every several seconds, and then only long enough (fractions to 1 second or so) to get a speed measurement. Instant-on and pulsed (microwave) radars are intended to defeat radar detectors by keeping transmission time short.

Some microwave radars and many laser radars have a timing mode that allows the operator to time targets (traveling between 2 points of known distance) visually instead of transmitting (defeats microwave/laser detectors). This method takes more time to set-up, requires more operator actions, is less versatile, and thus used less often.



S Band Radar (obsolete)

A connecticut firm (Automatic Signal Co.) built one of the first traffic radars in 1947 for the state police. Early radars were bulky and heavy systems (vacuum-tube technology) that usually consisted of three or more separate pieces of equipment, an antenna (sometimes 2 antennas -- separate transmit and receive), a 45 pound (20 kg) box (the tube transmitter, receiver and processor), a strip chart pen recorder for a permanent record, and a needle meter calibrated in mph. Sometimes the antennas mounted on a tripod and sometimes on the hood or fender of a patrol car. Some of the early 1960s' models mounted the antennas in the back windshield of the patrol car.

The first traffic radars transmitted at 2.455 GHz in the S band (2 - 4 GHz). Note that many microwave ovens transmit at about 2.45 GHz, and low power unlicensed wireless communications transmit from 2.400 - 2.4835 GHz. S band radar antenna beamwidths varied from 15 to 20 degrees depending on model. These radars operated from a stationary position only and measured receding as well as approaching targets to an accuracy of about ± 2 mph. The maximum detection range was an unimpressive 150 to 500 feet (45 to 150 meters); vacuum-tube receivers do not have the sensitivity of solid-state receivers. A radar with a 150 foot detection range would have less than 1.5 seconds to measure a target traveling 68 mph (100 feet/second or 109 kmh). S band radars are obsolete.


X Band Radar

X band radars have been around since 1965 and operate on a single frequency (one 50 MHz channel). Radars in the X band have better all weather performance (less signal attenuation in bad weather) than K or Ka bands. X band radars tend to have wider beams than K or Ka radars.

Some European countries use X band traffic radars that transmit at 9.41 GHz or 9.90 GHz.


Ku Band Radar

The Federal Commumications Commission (FCC) has allocated 13.45 GHz in the Ku band for traffic radar use in the United States, however Ku radars are not sold or used in the U.S. Some European countries are reported to use Ku band (13.45 GHz) traffic radars.


K Band Radar

K band radars have been around since 1976 and operate on a single frequency (one 200 MHz channel). These radars generally have more narrow beams than X band radars, and wider beams than Ka band radars. Detection range decreases with moisture, also see chapter 5.5 -- Interference/Natural Interference.

Side note: Some World War II radars operated in the K band around 24.1 GHz (in the limits of K band traffic radar), which also happens to be in the water vapor absorption band (centered at about 22.24 GHz). Signals in the absorption band tend to become absorbed by moisture in the atmosphere and do not have the range that other frequency bands offer. For short range applications the effects may be tolerable on relatively clear dry days.


Ka Band Radar

Traffic Radar Ka Band
33.4 - 36.0 GHz

In 1983 the U.S. FCC allocated the spectrum from 34.2 - 35.2 GHz (Ka band) for traffic radar use, that same year Ka band photo (Across the Road) radars started appearing in the United States. Nine years later in 1992 the FCC expanded the Ka band spectrum allocated for traffic radar use to 33.4 - 36 GHz.

Ka band radars typically have more narrow beams than X or K band radars. Target detection range depends on moisture in the atmosphere (rain or humidity), the more moisture the less range. Also see chapter 5.5 -- Interference/Natural Interference.

Many models have a frequency tolerance of ± 100 MHz (200 MHz bandwidth), some models have a tolerance of ± 50 MHz (100 MHz bandwidth). An advantage of 100 MHz bandwidth over a 200 MHz bandwidth (besides less chance of interference) is more radar channels can be squeezed in the (Ka) band. The bandwidth allocated to Ka band traffic radar is 2.6 GHz (36-33.4 GHz), or 2,600 MHz. A radar with 200 MHz bandwidth has 13 channels (2600/200). A radar with 100 MHz bandwidth has 26 channels (2600/100). At a minimum 2 radars operating close to each other should be separated by at least 2 channels (the greater the separation the less chance of interference).

Wideband (Ka) Radar
Wideband radars (Ka band) operate on a single fixed frequency (operator selects one of several available), and/or in a frequency hop mode. In frequency hop mode the radar dwells on a fixed frequency for a fraction of a second (on the order of 1/10 of a second or more) and hops to another frequency. The radar cycles between a number of different frequencies. Wideband radars are intended to defeat radar detectors.


Across the Road Photo/Safety Radar

ACROSS THE ROAD (photo or safety) radars are designed to point a narrow beam (typically 5 degrees) across the road at an angle -- instead of down the road. The beam cannot cross the road at anything close to 90 degrees but something much less (typically about 22 degrees). The main beam of the radar paints only a small portion of the road. These systems, if designed properly, account for the Cosine Effect angle (based on alignment angle and beamwidth) and adjust (upward 6% to 9% for a 5° beam aligned at 22°) measured target speed.

Photo radars, or camera radars as they were first called, were in experimental stages of development as early as 1954 using S band radars. In 1983 the state of Texas tried a French-manufactured Ka band radar for a time but discontinued its use because the units were being stolen right off the road. Many communities use photo radar because of the revenue it generates, some communities have outlawed photo radar because of public pressure. Photo Radar

Photo radar (constantly transmitting) automatically detects a speeding violation (auto-lock) and photographs and/or video tapes the driver, the suspect vehicle and license plate, and records vehicle speed and typically the date, time and location. In states that have only one license plate (rear) two photographs (and cameras) are required to record the license plate and driver -- one photo (front of vehicle) to get the driver, another photo (rear of vehicle) to capture the license plate. Some units function at night by using a flash. Some units use an orange flash filter -- an orange flash is not as bright (as a white light flash) and should startle the driver less. Many photo radars connect to a computer or printer to retrieve stored data statistics such as number of violations, time and speed of each violation, etc.

A police officer does not have to see (or even be near) the alleged violation -- the process is automatic. The police officer is replaced by electronic circuits and a still and/or video camera. Many drivers do not even know they were recorded by photo radar (usually hidden in a van, pick-up truck, highway maintenance vehicle, etc.) until weeks later when a ticket and photograph (usually includes license plate and driver) arrives in the mail. Note that the registered vehicle owner may not be the driver, but the owner still gets the ticket.

Safety Radars are across the road radars connected to a large display to indicate a driver's speed to the driver. Some Safety Radars only display speeds above the limit, some display all speeds measured. Some units record all speeds measured, some only record speed violations. Safety Radars usually do not record the driver or vehicle, unless connected to a camera.

When operator controlled, rarely used, the radar can be set to constantly transmit, or set to instant-on (transmit only on operator command). In either mode the operator can observe target speed on a display and/or set the radar to automatically photograph (auto-lock) violations.

Across the road radars have fractions to a couple of seconds to measure speed. Also because of the Cosine Effect error the echo is not a steady stable frequency shift (such as for down the road radar) but multiple shifts that change rapidly with time. Across the road radars are much less accurate than down the road radars.


Laser Radar

Laser radars, sometimes referred to as ladars (LAser Detection And Ranging) or lidars (LIght Detection And Ranging), were introduced in the early 1990s. These systems radiate in the upper infrared (IR) band and have extremely narrow beams (compared to microwaves). Laser radars function from a stationary position only (no moving mode) and measure approaching and/or receding targets, some also display target range. Most laser radars can also measure the range of stationary objects. Laser signals propagate best in clear dry cool atmospheric conditions


Microwave versus Laser Radar

Microwave traffic radars do not require the operator to aim exactly (only general direction) at one particular target, and are most effective when traffic is light. Many microwave radars can be used from a moving patrol car. Traffic laser radars can function in dense (or light) traffic, and require the operator to select (aim crosshairs at) a particular target. Laser radars are not designed to operate from a moving patrol car. Typically microwave radars have longer detection range than laser light systems.

Good Speeding and away from tickets.

  1. Select Proper equipment
    • Avoid bright red performance cars
    • Non-descript mouse-gray "family" cars pass by unnoticed
    • Choose sports sedans such as Taurus SHO, Infinity Q45, etc.
    • a GOOD Radar Detector
  2. Recognize the threat early
    • Avoid excessive speeding on sparsely traveled highways. There will be no radar cover for you. This applies to both day and night driving.
    • Pay attention to Radar alerts, especially X-band "blips" on a rural highway. This may turn out to be K-band bouncing of a car in front of you.
    • Learn to recognize "threat" vehicles, such as Mustang LX's, full-size Chevrolets, Dodge Diplomats, Plymouth Gran Fury's, etc.
    • Identifying "threat" vehicles: windshield pillar mounted spotlight, stabilizer bar underside car ( especially on Chevrolets ), wide perfor- mance tires.
    • Rules apply whenever vehicle approaches from front or rear - slow down for positive identification!
  3. Maintain good daytime scan
    • Golden Rule #1 restated: Innocuous cars may pass unnoticed.
    • Slow down when approaching underpasses - enforcer may be on far side behind the concrete.
    • Be suspicious of vehicles parked on the inside or outside shoulder until a positive I.D. is made.
    • Check On-ramps: give a quick look to the top of the on-ramp.
    • Slow down whenever you notice a vehicle behind you matching your speed for a positive identification. The vehicle matching your speed will not be getting smaller in your rear-view mirror.
  4. Maintain a good night scan
    • Moving up on an enforcer vehicle: learn to identify taillights. Good example is the Mustang LX. Immediately look for the folded in spotlight.
    • Prime rule for nighttime driving: drive fast enough so that all head- lights of passed motorists reduce rapidly in size. Any air of headlamps that maintains the same distance will need to be identified.
  5. Practice Stealth, deception, and "hiding"
    • Find a "hare" who is pleased to demonstrate that his car is better than yours. Drop back to a safe distance and enjoy the radar shield. Do maintain your rear scan though.
    • Run at times with lights, then at times without, hiding yourself in front of a group of trucks when you change illumination. The reason for this is that an enforcer, having "noticed" you from a long distance back, will be looking for a certain as-yet-unidentified vehicle with lights ( or without ) as he moves quickly up through traffic. Suddenly, he is in identifiable range of a vehicle similar in size and shape to the one he believes may have been violating, only now the illumination is different from what he saw before, thus rendering him unsure. Follow- ing rules #2 and #3, you will have slowed down to quasi-legal speed. This will confuse the officer, especially if you have removed your radar detector from the windshield or visor.
    • Placement and removal of the radar detector is crucial. The unit should be directly in front of you so that a following threat vehicle cannot see it.
    • If you believe you have been actively "noticed", hide in front of a large truck, accelerate while under cover, and exit any off-ramp or rest area. You will have nothing to lose at this juncture.
    • Any time an officer moves in on you, remove the detector at once and place it in the seat next to you.
    • If you are in imminent danger of being stopped, execute the following emergency procedure in sequence: (1) remove detector and jam under seat; (2) wipe off suction cup or other tell-talke marks with moistened index fingertip, and (3) Replace the cigarette lighter ! An empty cigarette lighter is a dead giveaway to the officer that he is dealing with a chronic offender. He will treat you accordingly.
  6. Beware of slow moving "clumps"
    • Clumps are largish groups of vehicles covering all lanes and maintain a near-legal speed.
    • Most "loose" clumps will contain one enforcer vehicle at the front ( usually a marked cruiser, and one in the middle or at the tail of the clump. The vehicle at the rear will usually be unmarked and looking for lane changing and in-and-out weaving. Knowledge of rule #2 will make him a dead giveaway.
    • Beware of curves, crests, and grassy medians. Instant-on may be placed so that the violator can be "shot" just as he crests the hill, before he has a chance to react. Slow down - its safer.
  7. Avoid unprofessional and provocative behavior
    • The smart motorist does not alienate others
    • Slow to a moderate speed when passing other motorists. One of the benign-looking minivans you just ran off the road may contain an off- duty officer with a notebook and a phone.
    • Avoid provocative license plates and bumper stickers: "How's my driving ? Call 1-800-EAT-SHIT" will not give you any breaks when stopped by an officer.
  8. Maintain a high level of attention at all times
    • Raid motoring is a serious business. Stay focused. Distractions are all incompatible with rules #1-9.
  9. Behave correctly when stopped
    • Chronic fast driving will get you stopped sooner or later. Observance of rules #1-9 will make this much, much later, but not "never".
    • Do not act blase'. A cocky stance of "OK, so you got me" is provocative. SO is attempting to argue that there must be some terrible mistake - you know you were under the limit.
    • Do not forget to remove your detector and follow the other steps men- tioned in rule #5.
    • Be courteous, candid and contrite. Trembling while handing over your license demonstrates that this situation is unusual and terrifying to you. It shows respect for the law and fear of punishment.
    • Answer the question "Do you know how fast you were going ?" with "Truly, I don't - my mind must've been wandering". "But I must have been going over the speed limit, or you wouldn't have stopped me." Note that you were not speeding deliberately - no "late for work" excuses !

Pengesan Speed Trap yg boleh pakai di Malaysia





Nih pengesan speed trap yg dijual kat jepun. Nih brand baru boleh scan speed trap yg jenis camera yg pakai K-band(24.200GHz). Tapi kat jepun speed trap yg jenis camera pakai X-band(10.525GHz). Tapi jenis ni boleh kesan dua2 jenis band X-band ngan K-band. Satu lagi boleh kesan polis2 yg menyorok kat tepi2 semak yg pakai speed trap cam dalam gambar kat atas tu.

Dalam gambar tuh yg macam kat palang tu ada ccd camera jenis speed trap tercanggih di alam maya skg nih pun boleh detect pakai alat nih. Best tak?? Kata la best... best kan kan kan.

Yg paling best nyer boleh kesan patrol car yg transmit signal/ataupun yg ada speed scanner. Tapi kalau polis tu tutup alat tuh takleh scan gak. Kalau pakai alat nih mmg leh selamat dari dapat surat saman. Nak tanya lebih lanjut ker nak aper2 ker pasal barang nih aku takleh citer lebih2 pasal barang ni legal kat jepun dan MUNGKINNN illegal kotttt kat malaysia. Tambahan:
1. Untuk polis yg pakai speed trap kat semak2 tuh benda alah tu cuma akan keluar kan gelombang yg boleh dikesan dari jarak 70-100 meter jer. Jadi alat pengesan speedtrap ni pun takleh perfect sangat kena hati2 gak kadang2 dah sampai dekat sangat ngan polis yg sedang sekodeng dari semak tuh baru nak bunyi. Oh lupa lak alat ni dia keluarkan bunyi amaran bila jumpa speed trap. Tapi dia ada sistem auto lowdown volume slps 15 saat tapi kalau dah bingit sangat boleh jer tekan butang mute terus jadi bisu buat seketika. Bunyi tu pun bergantung pada had laju kereta kita yg alat ni ukur berdasarkan getaran yg terhasil. Yer ler kalau bawak perlahan mana bergetar sangat takyah citer ler naik bumper ker masok lobangg ker. Kereta citroen-bx yg pakai hydraulic suspension pun bergetar pasal enjin dia bergetar kan...apa da korang nih.

2. Untuk speed trap yg ada ccd kamera yg boleh tangkap gambar plate kereta sampai muka dan lubang hidung driver pun dia leh tangkap tuh perlukan jarak 500m lebih kurang. Kadang-kadang ataupun jarang2 gak dah terlambat baru bunyi pasal gelombang ciptaan manusia ni mana ler perfect kadang2 gelombang terbantu alat ni pun confuse nih gelombang ker mak tiri aku nih??? Begitulah serba sedikit kelemahan alat nih. Jadi yg lemah itu dari pembuat alat nih bukan dari aku. Yg baik tu semua dari aku yg hensem macam gajah nih.
